The Rockport Garden Club will host its annual garden tour July 9th and 10th from
10 am to 4 pm each day, rain or shine. This year's tour, "Coastal Gardens"
features 16 gardens at ten stops. Many
of these private gardens will be open
to the
public for the first time. While the gardens vary
in size, composition, location, and
plant
material, they share a common feature. Every
garden on the tour has had
significant input from the owners. Several have been owner-designed and most are
planted and maintained by the owner. Among the features which stand out are
a
12,000 gallon water feature, an impressive collection of heirloom roses, unique
garden
sculpture, a cottage garden bursting with color from spring through autumn,
dramatic use of local granite as
hardscape, and a beautifully crafted ledge garden.
An oceanside garden will host the special events: a luncheon for purchase, a plant
sale highlighting perennials, and a sale
of original artwork by local artists.
Tickets for the garden tour are $25 each (cash, check, or credit card*). They may
be purchased in advance by calling 978-546-5949 or 978-546-6861 or
emailing ganderson8945@comcast.net . Beginning June 1st, tickets will be sold at Toad Hall
Bookstore (51 Main Street) and Pier & Main Fine Gifts (1 Main Street). Tickets
will also be available July 8, 9, & 10 from 10 am - 2 pm at the
Chamber of
Commerce Information Booth , Upper Main Street and Barletta Park, Broadway at
top of T Wharf.
Proceeds fund planting and maintaining Rockport’s thirteen town gardens,
various civic projects and several scholarships.
*Charge on credit card will appear as “Pier & Main”
