As a new member, you will be interested in knowing the range of opportunities for involvement in the Rockport Garden Club activities.  The best way to
become acquainted is to work on one or more of our committees. You will find information attached about the various committees. After reading please
show your preference below.

OBLIGATION:  As a member of the Garden Club you will be obligated to provide sandwiches or dessert for one social hour each year.  If you’re unable
to do this, a donation of $10 will be expected.

I’d like to welcome you to the Rockport Garden Club.  It has been a very effective community organization for over 80 years and depends on each new
member’s time and talents.  When you are introduced to the club, you become a new member.

By offering this information, we hope to increase the participation of all members, old and new.  Often, members may not be aware of the varied work of
our committees.  Please keep this sheet for reference, and do offer help in areas that appeal to you.  The Chairs of the respective committees will contact you
when you indicate your interest on your application.    We need everyone!

 

ROCKPORT GARDEN CLUB COMMITTEES

 

Fund Raisers – Plans and works annual fund-raisers for the support of Town Gardens and other civic projects. 
                            For  2008  this will include the  Plant and Garden Shed Sale May 31 and  Garden Tour July 10 and 11.

Garden Club Service – Prepares floral remembrances for and visits with local nursing home residents, and also prepares and coordinates meals
                            for “Open Door” in Gloucester four times a year.
     
Horticulture and Conservation – Arranges the biennial Rockport Garden Tour and Field Trips.

Hospitality: – Acts as a hostess and or provides refreshments at meetings and other gatherings such as our Annual Picnic and Christmas Tea. 
     
Membership – Provides and receives new member applications, meets and greets all members, provides name tags, keeps membership information,
                           records, statistics and trends.  Sends out dues requests, informational mailings, emails and makes phone calls.

Nominating – Prepares a list of candidates seeking or proposed for office.
     
Program – Plans programs, location of the Annual Picnic, Christmas Tea, and Workshops for the entire season.
     
Publicity – Submits club meetings and activities to local newspapers and provides all publicity for club events and fundraisers.

Town Gardens – Plants, cultivates, weeds, deadheads, waters and enjoys being part of a team responsible for the care of one of our thirteen
                           town gardens.  Participates in the redesign of existing gardens and plans for future garden locations.

Scholarship – Works with Publicity and local schools to advertise the availability of Garden Club Scholarships and screens applicants for
                      scholarship awards
